May 14, 2010 – Alex Rodriguez just hit the biggest home run of the season for the 2010 New York Yankees.
The 22-12 Yankees (two games behind Tampa Bay) are in the first game of a three-game set against the AL Central leading Minnesota Twins, who also have a 22-12 record.
The Yankees are coming off their worst stretch of the young season, having dropped four of their last five games — all on the road.
Tonight, at Yankee Stadium, the Yankees found themselves trailing the Twins 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th inning. After giving Mark Teixeira a free pass, A-Rod took the plate with the bases loaded.
And like he did so many times during the championship campaign of 2009 (including twice against these very Twins), Rodriguez launched a late-inning blast. This one got out of the park in a hurry, clearing the first section of seats in left field, and landing about 10 rows into the bleachers.
With a 7-4 lead, the Yankees are back in business.
